Beginners

After your warm up exercises, I suggest practicing your scales. Scales exercises can be as simple as playing scales found in a beginner's band book. However, there are more advanced music books available that offer more in-depth scales exercises involving scales, modes, arpeggios, thirds, fourths, fifths etc. A serious flute student should make efforts to progress to practicing with more advanced scales exercise books like the ones I've listed on the Intermediate & Advanced page. The following are a list of books I recommend for beginners to practice their scales exercises:

Essential Technique 2000 Flute. Essential Elements Band Method. Book & CD Package. Size 9x12 inches. 48 pages. Published by Hal Leonard Corporation. (862617)
